Configuration of Self-propelled Modular Trailers

1. Power supply system of self-propelled modular trailer


The PPU powers lifting, moving, steering, braking and lighting. The PPU is a diesel engine equipped with pumps, motors, hoses and cables for coupling with self-propelled modules. The size of the PPU is generally consistent with the size of the self-propelled modular trailer body. In order to ensure its passability, the size of the self-propelled modular trailer generally does not exceed the size of the chassis of the self-propelled modular trailer.


Some diesels are larger in size and less expensive to procure, to keep costs down we can include expanding the size of the PPU. In this way, we will increase the height or length of the PPU, and then the height of the PPU is slightly higher than the surface of the self-propelled modular trailer cargo platform. Since the self-propelled modular trailer can be raised and lowered by itself, modest increases in height and length will not affect passing performance. If the width of the power unit is increased, its passability will be weakened.


The height and angle of the PPU are adjustable to suit different working conditions. It is even possible to disassemble the PPU and place it on top of the self-propelled modular trailer to reduce the overall length for high passability, allowing it to efficiently move around sharp turns or in tight spaces.


2. Suspension system/hydraulic lifting system of self-propelled modular trailer


The suspension system is a pendulum mechanical suspension arm equipped with hydraulic cylinders. It consists of a swing arm, a lift cylinder, axles (normal, drive and brake axles) and tires (solid or pneumatic industrial tires).


High passability: When the road surface is uneven or the transport vehicle needs to cross some obstacles, the transport vehicle can be lifted by itself to increase the space between the chassis and the ground, so that these obstacles can be easily passed. We can call self-propelled modular trailers road compensated. In the same way, when the self-propelled modular trailer passes through roads with limited height such as bridge openings and tunnels, the height of the vehicle can be reduced to a minimum to ensure that it can pass through bridges and tunnels smoothly.


Lift system dual circuits: backup safety hydraulic lines to ensure cargo and self-propelled modular trailers remain stable in the event of a spill. The hydraulic lifting system adopts a double-pipeline safety system, which is a backup hydraulic lifting pipeline, which can ensure the safety and stability of the self-propelled modular trailer platform in the process of transporting goods in the case of damage to the hydraulic pipeline.


3. Steering system of self-propelled modular trailer


Considering the steering mode, self-propelled modular trailers can be divided into two types: 1. Tie-rod steering type. 2. Independent suspension. Hydraulic and electronic steering, with a rack and pinion/worm and pinion on each suspension, allows the self-propelled modular trailer to move in any direction you need it, even laterally. The system is embedded with angle sensors to monitor its operation and ensure precise steering.
